He was born Daniel Dwight Tosh on May 29, 1975, in Boppard, Rhineland-Palatinate, West Germany. He was born the son of a Presbyterian minister and preacher. There is no information about his mother. Also, he has 3 brothers; a brother and two sisters with whom he grew up in Titusville, Florida. Tosh holds a United States nationality and is of mixed Scottish, Irish, Swiss, and German ethnicity.
