Sheynnis Palacios is a name that will go down in history as the first Nicaraguan to win the prestigious Miss Universe title. She is also the second woman from Central America to achieve this feat, after Justine Pasek of Panama in 2002. But who is Sheynnis Palacios, and what is her story? Sheynnis Palacios’ Father, Mother, and Family
Sheynnis Alondra Palacios Cornejo was born on May 31, 2000, in Managua, Nicaragua. She is the daughter of Sheyla Cornejo and Reynaldo Palacios, who are both entrepreneurs. She has two siblings, a brother named Reynaldo Jr. and a sister named Sheyla. Sheynnis grew up in a loving and supportive family, who encouraged her to pursue her dreams and passions.
Sheynnis attended the Universidad Centroamericana in Managua, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication in 2022. She also played varsity volleyball for the university, showing her athletic skills and competitive spirit. Sheynnis is fluent in Spanish and English and has a basic knowledge of French and Portuguese.

Pageant Career
Sheynnis started her pageant career in 2016 when she won the Miss Teen Nicaragua 2016 title. She then represented her country at the Miss Teen Universe 2017 pageant, held in Managua, where she placed in the Top 10. She also won several special awards, such as Miss Photogenic, Miss Elegance, and Miss Congeniality.
In 2020, Palacios competed in the Miss World Nicaragua 2020 pageant, representing the capital city of Managua. She won the crown, along with other awards, such as Miss Solenti, Miss Beauty Shipping, Miss Agua Cielo, Miss Flawless Beauty, Miss Styling Baby Liss Pro, and Mujer Abundante. She earned the right to represent Nicaragua at the Miss World 2021 pageant, which was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 2022. She made it to the Top 40, but did not advance further. The winner was Karolina Bielawska from Poland.
Sheynnis was also supposed to compete in the Reinado Internacional del Café 2022 pageant, held in Colombia, but she had to withdraw from the competition after testing positive for COVID-19. She recovered from the virus and continued her preparations for the Miss Nicaragua 2023 pageant.
On August 5, 2023, Sheynnis was crowned Miss Nicaragua 2023, beating nine other contestants. She also won the Miss Internet award, which was based on online voting. She became the official representative of Nicaragua at the Miss Universe 2023 pageant, which was scheduled to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador, on November 18, 2023.
